Vans RV-9
N942P
Clean, low hours,
far-above-average finish
$136,000 USD

Professionally built, with top quality paint and a nice interior.Â
Here's one of the nicest RVs I've seen in a long time. For many RVs, while their build quality may be good, they often seem to end up with a mediocre quality paint job and a rough interior. This RV was done right, though. Not only was N942P built by a highly experienced Arizona builder, but it was also finished out very nicely.
Have you ever heard of a Vans RV float plane? N942P did a short stint on floats, so while floats are not included with the aircraft, it wouldn't take much to go back to floats if you wanted! As part of that conversion, the aircraft was also reconfigured to conventional gear, taking it from an RV-9A to an RV-9.
This impressive RV has been enjoyed by its owner for several years, and now it's time for the owner to downsize his corral of aircraft. So, we are looking for a loving new owner to enjoy this RV-9.
Please carefully review the specs, the detailed high resolution images in the Image Gallery, and the walkaround video below. You'll see every inch of the aircraft. If you reach out to me, I can digitally share all logbooks and important documents.

Aircraft Evaluation
As the broker, I make a significant effort to represent an aircraft in as much detail as possible. I share with you not only the benefits and features I've discovered, but also the issues or concerns that I found during my extensive intake and deep logbook review process. I present dozens of detailed, high resolution images, and an extensive walkaround video. Please review this material in detail. All logbooks and other important documents are professionally scanned, well organized, and available for your review.
My goal is that any Buyer making the effort to look at an aircraft in person can first see the aircraft "virtually" on this web page. |
Exterior -Â N942P has ramp presence and turns heads. Its nearly flawless professional paint is deep and retains excellent shine. The accent colors are simple and gorgeous. The white MT composite prop is classy. Leading edges and wing tips are void of dings or hangar rash.
The slide canopy has a Supertracks canopy rail extension, significantly opening up access to the baggage area and making ingress/egress a little easier. This is one of the better enhancements one can make to an RV with a slide canopy.
The aircraft is really clean. Even the areas around the wing walks are clean. I think N942P looks better in person than it does in the many high resolution images shown on this spec page.
It's a challenge to find nitpick issues with the exterior, but I found a few small issues. There are some very minor scratches on the leading edge of the engine cowl where the piano hinge wire is inserted (it's tough not to scratch paint a little bit when wrestling with re-inserting those wires, right?) The prop surface has some minor wrinkling on the face, down close the hub. The owner contacted MT about this, and they assured him that it is only cosmetic. Lastly, the upper ends of the gear legs have some scratches where they meet the cuffs.
The Image Gallery (below) contains many close-up, detailed, high resolution images so that you can get a great view of the aircraft exterior. Please review them carefully.

Instrument Panel - The spartan VFR panel in N942P is clean and well organized. The primary instrument is the GRT EFIS glass panel which presents both flight and engine information in a nice format. The radio stack consists of a single Icom COM radio with flip-flop frequency display, and a Garmin transponder.
Switches and circuit breakers are smartly organized. There is sufficient room on the right portion of the panel to install a RAM mount ball to be used with your favorite EFB such as ForeFlight, or for other instrumentation as you prefer. Overall, the panel is quite nice.
Please refer to the "Avionics and Equipment" list above, for complete details, and to the Image Gallery below for close-up images of the entire instrument panel.
Interior - The interior is clean and nicely laid out. My favorite part of the interior is the leather and bolsters used on the seats. The images shown here do not quite convey how rich the leather feels to the touch. The leather is thicker and softer than it looks, and the bolsters are thick. The leather itself could use a bit of cleaning, but I saw no rips or issues. Carpet shows minimal wear and looks nice.
Overall - This low hours, 180 horsepower, VFR-equipped RV-9 conventional gear aircraft is gorgeous and is quite a performer. It has fantastic attributes, and it looks good everywhere it goes. The next owner will have the comfort of knowing that it was built by a "repeat offender" (a highly experienced, professional builder). This RV-9 is hardly broken in, and is immediately ready for its next mission.
