Experience the perfect balance of pure tailwheel freedom and great aerobatic capabilities.

The 8KCAB Super Decathlon represents the pinnacle of versatile, tandem tailwheel aviation. Renowned for its robust design and responsive handling, this capable aircraft serves as the perfect platform for casual pilots seeking a pure, stick-and-rudder weekend cruiser, while simultaneously offering the inverted fuel and oil systems required for serious competitive aerobatics (+6g to -5g).

Whether you are looking to master precise crosswind landings, explore advanced upset recovery, or carve through the sky upside down, this legendary trainer delivers exceptional performance, reliability, and pure flying joy in one beautifully balanced package.

This low time American Champion 8KCAB Super Decathlon is currently owned and operated by a highly accomplished military and civilian pilot who is nationally known for his formation aerobatic skills. With time split between warbirds and other aerobatic aircraft, he is flying N79AC less often and has decided it's time to find a new owner for this nice Super D.

Please carefully review the detailed, high resolution image gallery and walkaround video below. You'll see every inch of the aircraft. If you reach out to me, I can digitally share all logbooks and important documents.

Walkaround Video

Aircraft Evaluation

As the broker, I make a significant effort to represent an aircraft in as much detail as possible. I share with you not only the benefits and features I've discovered, but also the issues or concerns that I found during my extensive intake and deep logbook review process. I present dozens of detailed, high resolution images, and an extensive walkaround video. Please review this material in detail. All logbooks and other important documents are professionally scanned, well organized, and available for your review.

Exterior - Overall, N79AC presents well and shows the pride of long-term hangar ownership. The exterior fabric is taut, and the paint retains a deep, high-gloss shine with no evidence of UV fading, hail damage, or hangar rash.

As is characteristic of robust, working tube-and-fabric aircraft, close inspection reveals minor superficial cosmetic wear expected from standard operations. These include a few small, localized paint chips primarily around the leading edges of the wing struts. There are also fine paint cracks in isolated areas of the fabric flexing points, and a small fabric patch on the top of the starboard elevator. None of these blemishes affect the structural integrity or aerodynamic performance of the airframe, and they remain virtually unnoticeable from a standard walkaround distance.

We invite you to explore the extensive, high-resolution close-up image gallery below to verify the honest, highly functional condition of this Super D's exterior.

N79AC - short wide panel

Instrument Panel - The VFR instrument panel is primarily factory-outfitted, with the typical compliment of standard VFR instruments and a G-meter. The BendixKing KX155 nav/com radio is paired with the ubiquitous BendixKing KI208 Course Deviation Indicator (CDI). The panel functionality has been augmented by a panel-mounted Dynon D3 EFIS which provides a flight display with synthetic vision and AHRS.

One of the most important tools in a light piston aircraft is an engine data monitor system. N79AC has an Electronics International electronic engine monitor which provides CHT and EGT information for all 4 cylinders.

Please refer to the "Avionics and Equipment" list above for complete details of all avionics, and to the Image Gallery below for close-up images.

Interior - The factory stock, spartan interior of this Super Decathlon is in overall good condition. The carpet was replaced several years back and shows little wear. The rugged upholstery on the seats is in good condition. The pilot's seat shows some minor wear on the piping around the top corner, but not a show-stopper. The Hooker Harness 5-point seatbelts are in good condition, as is the headliner and side panels.

Please review the high resolution images in the Image Gallery (below) for a detailed look at the interior condition.
