N735JX Cessna 182Q

1977 Cessna 182Q
N735JX

Glass panel, Garmin IFR
New Interior, Nicely Optioned

$222,000 USD

Most General Aviation pilots agree that the Cessna 182 is the best overall airplane in the fleet.

There's not one aircraft that "does it all", but a Cessna 182 does most everything quite well and economically. Relative to the market, a 182 can be acquired for a reasonable price, it carries a respectable payload, it has a decent cruise speed, it can fly slowly when needed, and it fits in as well in the backcountry as it does at the local airport. The Cessna 182 also makes a fantastic platform for power upgrades as well as a platform for improved backcountry capabilities - there are many STCs available for the tried-and-true Cessna 182.

This low-time, IFR-capable 182Q Skylane has a recently updated and entirely new instrument panel, and a completely new interior.

The aircraft has spent its life in the southwestern part of the U.S., much of that time in dry Arizona. Its current owner has had this 182Q hangared in the Phoenix area for nearly 5 years, and its previous owner (also in Arizona) had the aircraft for over 20 years. Recently, N735JX received a massive upgrade to the instrument panel, including Aspen glass and a Garmin touchscreen GPS Navigator, and a beautiful new interior with rich, supple leather seating. Now, the owner regrettably must sell the aircraft due to a medical challenge.

Please carefully review the detailed, high resolution image gallery and lengthy walkaround video below. You'll see every inch of the aircraft. If you reach out to me, I can digitally share all logbooks and important documents.

Aircraft Evaluation

As the broker, I make a significant effort to represent an aircraft up front in as much detail as possible. I share with you not only the benefits and features I've discovered, but also the issues or concerns that I found during my extensive intake and deep logbook review process. I present well over 100 detailed, high resolution images, in some cases noting directly on the image a potential issue which caught my attention. All logbooks and other important documents are professionally scanned, well organized, and readily available on the cloud for your review.

My goal is that any Buyer making the effort to look at an aircraft in person can first see the aircraft "virtually" on this web page and through video. This helps the Buyer avoid surprises when they arrive to view the aircraft in person.

Exterior - Despite some minor cosmetic flaws, the exterior of N735JX is in reasonably good condition. The recent paint has depth and shine, and the accent colors contrast well and look sharp. There are some flaws in the paint, though. On the wing leading edge, there is some paint drip which is evident only when looking carefully up close. On the leading edge, there is one area where the paint is slightly rough and deformed, possibly due to a primer issue. On the side of the empennage, there is an area where paint did not form well during application (again, possibly a primer issue). The aircraft has some minor hail damage which is evident on some control surfaces and on the starboard-side of the empennage. If perfect cosmetics are a concern, please carefully review the high-resolution images below so that you see these imperfections.

The aluminum sheet metal is overall in good condition for its age. The only cosmetic issues I noted during the in-depth walkaround were a couple of very minor dings on the wing leading edge, the "typical" dents near the trailing edge of the doors resulting from closing the door with the lock engaged, and also a minor ding on the port-side of the rudder. Note also that there is some hail damage, as described above. The fiberglass nose bowl shows some minor paint cracks, typical on these aircraft after a few years. The close-up images in the image gallery clearly show these imperfections.

If you know Cessna 182s, then you know how common it is to see a minor crack or two around the upper rivets of the trailing edge of the flaps. On this aircraft, though, I saw NO such cracks. That's good to see.

One of my favorite attributes of N735JX is the all-LED lighting. AeroLED lights have replaced all the exterior incandescent bulbs, providing brighter light and significantly longer bulb life. The Stene Quasar LED wingtip lights with "wigwag"/pulse mode are great looking and very effective.

The tires are in nearly new condition and look great. Though not currently installed, the aircraft has wheel fairings which are included in the sale. There is some minor haze on the side window Plexiglas, typical for aircraft of this vintage. Overall, though, I saw nothing concerning on the exterior of the aircraft.

Instrument Panel - Arguably, an instrument panel is one of the most important features of an aircraft, and when updated, helps an aircraft retain its value well into the future. N735JX has a fantastic, modern panel that was recently rebuilt, ground up, and was well thought out.

Eliminating the entire vacuum system, the all new glass panel consists of dual (PFD and MFD) Aspen Pro Max 1000 displays, with Angle of Attack (AoA) enabled, and a touchscreen Garmin GTN650xi GPS Navigator with COM. The 2nd COM radio is integrated into the PS Engineering Audio Panel - these revolutionary audio panels are impressive! PS Engineering has partnered with Trig Avionics to integrate a remotely mounted COM radio. The panel also has a nearly new Bendix King Aerocruze 100 2-axis autopilot, and a Garmin GTX345 transponder which has built-in ADS-B IN and OUT. The Garmin Flightstream 510 offers wireless connectivity to the Garmin components.

One of the best tools a pilot can have in the cockpit is an advanced EMS (engine data management system). This aircraft has a JPI EDM-900, one of the top-of-the-line systems for engine monitoring. Personally, this is one feature I wouldn't want to go without.

The panel has a fan-cooled iPad mounting station on the co-pilot side. The iPad, as pictured, is included with the aircraft. There is also an iPhone mount to the left, allowing your phone to serve as a backup in cases where the pilot utilizes an electronic EFB such as ForeFlight or Garmin Pilot.

Interior - The interior is nearly new, smells like leather, and looks gorgeous. About a year ago, the entire interior was updated. All plastics, the headliner, side panels, and door panels were replaced. The seatbelts were replaced (BAS 4-point harnesses in front), as was the carpet. All four seats were rebuilt with genuine leather and excellent support padding. These seats are very comfortable, and are ideal for cross-country travel. Combined with the completely new instrument panel, the interior of N735JX is impressive.

Overall - I would be proud to own this Cessna 182Q Skylane. The interior and instrument panel are a treat for any cross-country pilot, and the aircraft has been well cared for by its owner. The panel is IFR-ready and is as capable as any modern General Aviation aircraft can be. The mid-time engine has excellent oil analysis history, which indicates that this O-470-U is good condition. This dry country Arizona aircraft is ready for its next home.
