Turbocharged performer, Garmin IFR

$206,000 USD

Serious performance in a sleek, beautiful package.

Mooney Aircraft Co. sprung onto the scene in the 60s and quickly earned a reputation for making the most of modest horsepower, and doing it in style with its one-of-a-kind, vertical leading edge tail. Years later, the Mooney M20M Bravo came about, proving that when you make the most of even more horsepower, you make a wildly superior aircraft that outruns others in its class.

This well-maintained, Garmin IFR equipped, turbocharged 270 hp Mooney M20M is ready to go. Its panel boasts a full compliment of Garmin technology including dual G5s, eliminating the vacuum system, a GNS530W (WAAS) GPS/COM/NAV, GTX345 Mode S Transponder with ADS-B IN/OUT, Garmin GNC255 NAV/COM, and a Garmin GFC500 autopilot. A JPI EDM-700 Engine Data Management System helps you manage critical engine parameters, allowing data export and programmable alarms. Interior and exterior cosmetics look good on this hangared M20M Bravo.

Please carefully review the detailed, high resolution image gallery and lengthy walkaround video below. You'll see every inch of the aircraft. If you reach out to me, I can digitally share all logbooks and important documents.

Aircraft Evaluation

Unlike many other brokers, I make a significant effort to represent an aircraft up front in as much detail as possible, identifying not only the benefits and features, but also the issues that will catch your attention when you look at the aircraft "in person". I present well over 100 detailed, high resolution images, noting directly on the image, with arrows, the issues which caught my attention. I make all logbooks readily available in digital format.

My goal is that any Buyer going to the effort and travel expense to look at an aircraft can, beforehand, see the aircraft "virtually", up close, on this web page and through video. This helps the Buyer avoid surprises when they arrive to view the aircraft "in person".

Exterior - 7.5/10 Mooney N9149X's exterior is consistent with an always-hangared and well cared for aircraft of its age. The paint is rich and shows depth, and there is no evidence of trailing edge hangar rash. As I carefully examined the exterior during my broker intake process, I didn't find much in the way of cosmetic issues. It's a real treat to see such a performance aircraft with factory speed brakes in the wings!

While the overall aircraft looks fantastic, there are a couple minor nitpicks I discovered. The front lower cowling paint shows very minor evidence of paint cracking - NO peeling or separation, only lightly visible if you look carefully. And, the left wing tip has what looks to be a scrape that was roughly repaired with touch-up. Please closely review the Image Gallery pictures below - any blemishes which are not quickly evident have been noted on the photos.

The 3-bladed McCauley prop and spinner look to be in good condition, but could use a little bit of cosmetic TLC. The nose and engine cowling are in fantastic condition. The Plexiglas windows and windshield are in nice condition - no crazing or unusual scratches/blemishes were noted. The side windows are bright and clean. Tires have lots of tread and look to be in good condition.

Instrument Panel - 8.5/10 The Garmin instrument panel has been updated regularly and is a real treat for an IFR pilot. Dual Garmin G5s (AI and HSI) have eliminated the vacuum system and compliment the Garmin GFC500 autopilot which recently had its servos replaced due to a Garmin Service Bulletin. The WAAS GNS530W is an excellent GPS Navigator platform, and utilizes the Garmin Flightstream 210 for the provision of bi-directional Bluetooth data with other avionics and data consumers such as ForeFlight. A Garmin GTX345 Mode S transponder provides both IN/OUT ADS-B data services. A JPI EDM-700 provides critical engine management data, both real-time and logged for later consumption, and also provides user-programmable alerts. The GAMI injectors, along with the EDM-700, make it easy if you want to run LOP.

Interior - 8/10 The interior appearance and condition are consistent with a gently used aircraft. As is typical of these high performance Mooneys, the interior has a rich, high-quality appeal with its light colored leather and carpet. The interior could stand to be professionally cleaned, particularly the headliner, and then it would look absolutely gorgeous. However, there are no rips or unusual wear, so I would say it is overall in good condition.

Overall - During my pre-listing inspection and a deep logbook review, no concerning issues or "red flags" were found inside or out of this M20M Bravo. The logbooks and documentation on N9149X are well organized and are digitally imaged and ready for your inspection. This Mooney has ramp appeal and, overall, would be an excellent high-performance turbocharged performer for the pilot who appreciates a Mooney.
