Stunning cross-country machine with turbocharged altitude performance.

The Piper Turbo Arrow III is a legendary cross-country machine, highly prized for combining retractable gear speed with turbocharged altitude performance. Its turbo engine maintains horsepower in thin mountain air, allowing you to fly over bad weather and maximize cruise speeds up to 170 knots. Pilots love its stable, predictable handling and its simple, robust systems that make upgrading to a high-performance aircraft feel exceptionally safe.

This Turbo Arrow III, with its signature semi-tapered wing and conventional tail layout, is likely the nicest one on the market. Sometimes people say "pictures make a vehicle look better than it really is". In the case of this aircraft, I will attest that the aircraft looks even better "in person" than it does in pictures. This aircraft has outstanding ramp presence.

The owner, a retired military fighter jet pilot/instructor, and airline pilot, has taken painstaking care of this aircraft. He has owned it twice ... after selling it the first time, he missed it and happily bought it back when it became available again. After 50+ years of flying, though, this senior pilot has decided to hang up his wings and find a new home for this absolutely gorgeous Piper.

If you are seeking a dependable Turbo Arrow III that will turn heads everywhere you go, you've found your aircraft.

Please carefully review the detailed, high resolution image gallery and lengthy walkaround video below. You'll see every inch of the aircraft. If you reach out to me, I can digitally share all logbooks and important documents.

Walkaround Video

Aircraft Evaluation

As the broker, I make a significant effort to represent an aircraft in as much detail as possible. I share with you not only the benefits and features I've discovered, but also the issues or concerns that I found during my extensive intake and deep logbook review process. I present dozens of detailed, high resolution images, and an extensive walkaround video. Please review this material in detail. All logbooks and other important documents are professionally scanned, well organized, and available for your review.

Exterior - This is one of the cleanest exteriors I've seen on an aircraft in a long time. I'm not talking about a lack of dirt and dust, I'm talking about straight aluminum, beautiful paint, and great looking windshield and windows. This Arrow III looks better in person than it looks even in the pictures. I was pretty excited about it when I was doing the photo session.

I did not find any issues with the aluminum. No hail damage, no hangar rash. The owner pointed out one flaw on the trailing edge of the stabilator, but it is sufficiently minor that I didn't catch it during the intake process, and I was unable to capture it in a photograph.

The paint is brilliant, with significant depth and shine. Even though it's been 11 years since it was painted, it looks like the paint was done in the last couple years. No doubt, this is largely because the aircraft is always hangared, and also because the owner takes very good care of it. When it was painted, several Knots2U performance updates were installed.

The Image Gallery (below) contains many close-up, detailed, high resolution images so that you can get a better idea of the aircraft exterior condition.

N2018M - short wide panel

Instrument Panel - The primarily Garmin IFR panel is very clean and nicely updated. The most recent addition is a 2-axis Garmin GFC500 autopilot, the best autopilot in general aviation. Complimenting the GFC500 is a pair of Garmin G5s, a Garmin GNS530 GPS Navigator with nav and com capabilities, and a Garmin transponder and audio panel.

One of the most important tools in a high performing piston aircraft is a full-featured engine data management system. N2018M was recently updated with a state-of-the-art, full color screen JPI EDM-830. These are one of the best in class, and provide not only virtually every engine parameter imaginable, but also saves engine data for later download so that it can be analyzed by a service such as Savvy. The owner has a Savvy subscription and has used it to closely monitor engine performance. Those "Savvy Report Card" docs are available along with all logbooks upon request. That information, combined with the consistent Blackstone oil analysis reports, gives a strong insight into engine health.

The panel looks really good because the factory panel was updated with a custom unit, including new silkscreen lettering. This gives the panel a truly professional look.

Please refer to the "Avionics and Equipment" list above for complete details of all avionics, and to the Image Gallery below for close-up images.

Interior - The interior is 11 years old, but looks much newer. The leather seating is in great condition, with no signs of cracks or issues. Side panels and headliner are in nice condition. I saw no issues as I reviewed the interior of this Arrow III.

Please review the high resolution images in the Image Gallery (below) for a detailed look at the interior condition.

Summary - This is a really nice Piper Turbo Arrow III. The owner has taken excellent care of it, both from a cosmetic perspective, and from a mechanical perspective. Regular maintenance has been performed by a high-end shop. The owner, being a highly skilled pilot, has gently flown this aircraft. If you are looking for a high performing Turbo Arrow, this is an excellent offering.
